Fit Girls

Me, my sister and (I think) my mum have decided to try out the whole Fit Girl thing (my sisters idea!)

Fit Girl is a health and fitness website/company which helps weight loss and aid in increasing fitness levels - the healthy way! They sell books on their website (in USD) each book ranging between $24.99 and $49.99 or you can buy the whole bundle for $87.99

The first book is the 28 Day Jumpstart. This guide eases you into the world of Fit Girl, helping ditch the word 'diet' in favour of the word 'event'. From the Jumpstart you then move on to the Fitkini Body Challenge and finally the Fit Girls Bootcamp.

We will be starting with the 28 Day Jumpstart. Normally $30, they are currently on sale at $24.99 (a valentines special offer! Everyone loves a valentines special offer!) and if you look around on the internet, like I did, you can find various discount codes too (bonus - they work on top of the special offer). I have had a quick glance at the guide but haven't had a thorough read through yet. My first opinion is that it looks good. It discourages negative thinking and thinking of the challenge as a diet. It encourages positive thinking towards food and fitness in general as well as using rewards as an incentive (this I am really looking forward to!).

They do 28 day challenges on Instagram. We will also hopefully be taking part in this, so we can see how far we have come!

Music I'm Loving Right Now

The last couple of days I have been feeling really low. Everything seems to have hit at once. I think going back to work (especially to a new, more physical role), my little boy not wanting to nap and being ill is not helping with me deal with PPD. 

With how I have been feeling I have turned to music. I do this quite a lot. At this moment in time I'm particularly enjoying listening to Little Mix and even a little bit of the Biebs (ssshhh, don't tell anyone, ok?). In all seriousness though, Bieber's new album is actually pretty good! As is Little Mix's - theirs is the album of choice for my car right now. I have a good sing along on my way to work, it really helps perk me up.

Mummy Monday!

My first official Mummy Monday post! 

Ok, so, I posted not too long ago about some posts I wanted to do and one of them was a mummy post. I'll be telling you guys about my baby boy and his development as well as how I'm coping as a first time mum and dealing with post-natal anxiety.

So for my first post I shall simply tell you about my day! Today was tough. Napping was a big no no, he just kept fighting his sleep. That is genuinely more exhausting than waking in the early hours of the morning. Luckily he does fall asleep in the car so I ended up having to go for a drive, and even that took longer than normal! But I'm not going to lie, today really took it's toll on me. I had one of those days where I actually questioned whether I can do this. Whether I can be a mum. Whether I have the strength. And for a brief second the answer to all of those was 'no'. But once he had actually gone to sleep and I looked over at him, I realised I'm stronger than I think and I can do this. I am a good mum. Not being able to get him to sleep every once in a while does not make me a bad mum.

How do all you other mummies get your little ones to nap throughout the day?

I'm Back!

So after a bit of a break trying to recoup from a bad chest and dealing with a poorly little boy whose been suffering with Croup, I'm back!

Nothing makes me feel worse than neglecting my blog - but boy do I feel good when I start writing again! 

Here's a quick catch up - I've been poorly, my little boy's been poorly, I've been watching Pretty Little Liars (how good have the last couple of episodes been?!) and I'm enjoying my new job!

Update Post: Apology

So I must apologise for being quite absent and neglecting my blog over the last few days. My little boy has come down with Croup. 

He's been really coughing his guts up bless him, it's torn at his throat and made it difficult for him to breath - especially when he's lay down which has meant a couple of sleepless nights in our household. If you don't know what Croup is or you just want a little more information on it then all the info you need is on the NHS website or just click here.

So I feel like this blog has become a bit less personal than I had originally intended so I'd like to to an 'about me' post. I'm not sure whether to do this as a Q&A kind of thing or whether to do a 'facts about me' post with 20 or more facts about me and my life.

Late Post: Mummy Monday

So I had a terrible case of baby brain yesterday and totally forgot to post.

Anyway, in my last post I explained that I had a new blogging plan. I wanted to do posts that I would post every week regardless of whether I posted for the rest of the week or not. First up being Mummy Monday! A small part of why I wanted a blog was to give me something a bit more grown up than baby talk and to help take my mind away from my PPD. 

However, as the months with my son keep disappearing I am realising more and more that I need to be talking about the things that make me feel sad, no matter how small. For example, I have had a bit of a weepy moment this evening when I thought about how it is my sons last Baby Sensory lesson next week and I don't think I will be able to be there to see it. He has absolutley loved his time at Baby Sensory and our group leader, Helen, is fab. I couldn't have wished for a better leader. So, even though she probably won't read this, thank you Helen. You have been truly incredible. You have the patience of a saint and have understood when I have had my down times. So thank you for having us and hopefully a Toddler Sense class can open up and I can bring him to that as I know he will love it.

My News + Plans for the Blog!

In my previous post I mentioned I had some exciting news but I had to let relevant people know first. I've now done my bit as far as that is concerned and I now tell you guys!!

I have a new job! I will be a Playworker for a Kids Club in my town. I will be taking care of children aged between 4 & 11 before and after school. The club runs during the holidays too and the owner has some very exciting trips planned! 

I'm really looking forward to this new venture in my life and I am so so pleased it will allow me to carry on spending loads of time with my little boy during the day.

On to more boring things now! I was discussing my blog with my boyfriend this evening and saying how I was struggling for content and that I wished I had more to blog about or at least a bit more of a routine so that I could blog at least every other day. So I sat with my notebook and pen (part of my New Years resolution! Are you proud of me?) and I listed the things I would like to include in my blog and then looked at what I wanted to include on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.

I think I have come up with a good system and my boyfriend came up with some fab ideas too! I'll be trying them out from Monday and we'll just see how we go. If you have any thoughts on my new plan or have any ideas on things that you would like to see me blog about please please please tell me!

New Beginnings

So 2016 has barely even begun and there already some exciting things in the pipline for me! I can't wait to share it all with you! But it will have to wait until I have spoken to some people who need to know first.

Today, my boyfriend took me shopping to hunt down a comfy and warm new pair of boots. Now, because we are on a bit of a tight budget at the moment this seemed an impossible task as I couldn't just buy a pair of boots. They had to be the right boots. But I found them! They are a pair of brown leather boots from Next. They are soooo comfy and they even do up over my calves with room to spare (I have rather large calves and normal boots tend to pinch)!

Anyway, I hope to return very soon with my big news!

Trying To Get Back To Reality

Christmas is over. New Years has come and gone. It's time to get back to reality. Ugh. But who actually wants to? Not me! Even just taking my little boy to Baby Sensory for the first time in just over 3 weeks has taken it out of me!

On the plus side, things might be starting to go my way already this year!

New Design!

2 posts in one day! Wow! 

I thought I would do a post just to introduce you guys to my new design. I felt the standard blog design was a little blocky and not personal enough so I found this little beauty courtesy of Designer Blogs. I love this as its really quite sophisticated and very 'me'. 

Redesigning my blog was one of my month by month resolutions that I will be blogging about over the next couple of days. But when I found this design I just could not wait!

Hello 2016!

Well hello there 2016! You realise you have a lot to live up to? 2015 actually proved to be quite a good year! Still, as always, I have made my resolutions and this time I actually plan on sticking to them. Well most of them anyway! 

We all make resolutions and, if we are all totally honest with ourselves, we never stick to them. Usually within the first week we have gone totally against what we said we were or weren't going to do! 

So here are my resolutions.

1. Be Healthier & Lose Weight. I make this one every year. I think most people do. I'm hoping this is finally the year I can gain a bit of will power to see this one through.

2. Stop Biting & Grow My Nails. This one I have already started. I just need to carry on! It'll be easier once my nail infection has fully gone.

3. Take More Photographs. I already take a ton of photos each day - but they are all of my little boy. If you were to go through the 2,000 plus photos on my phone you might find about 1% of these are of anything other than my son! So I would like to start taking photos of places I've been to, things I've seen. This doesn't mean I'll stop photographing my son, it just means I'll be taking photos of other stuff too! I also want to try improve upon my photo editing and the way I take photos. Try and make them look sharper and more interesting.

4. Be More Organised. Over the last year (or 2 or 3) I have gotten sloppy. I've been lazy. I am untidy and unorganized. I'm also a major hoarder. Time for a change.

5. Blog Every Day. Or at least try to. If I can't manage every day, it'll certainly be every other day. I am really enjoying blogging so this one is quite important to me.

6. Get Out More. This is very much a tag on resolution. It tags onto the being healthier and also the photographing different things. If I get out more I can be healthier by getting exercise and there will be so many more things I can take photos of!

7. Read and Write More. I used to read so much before I had my son and since then (8 months) I have probably finished one book. I might sign up to Read It Swap It to try and help me read more. I also used to write down every dream I had, every thought, everything. I'd quite like to start this again.

8. Be More Confident. I used to be a confident, bubbly girl. I'm sure where it all went wrong (actually I am, I just really don't want to get into it. At least not right now) but I miss that girl. I used to think I could look good in a bin bag and that I was absolutely awesome. I was the female Barney Stinson (a How I Met Your Mother character, played by Neil Patrick Harris, just in case you thought I was going crazy for a second there). So I am going to try and not really care what others think, and just simply be me!

9. Spend Less. I have read a few blogs over the last few days from people who are challenging themselves to spend less. I think this is a fab idea. My bank balance will really suffer come the end of January as I have officially had the last of my maternity pay. This mean until I return to work I will not receive any pay at all. So I'm thinking this will be a really good idea and I might even be able to save a few pennies. I've also read bloggers talking about the 100 Days No Spending Challenge.... It's scary but I may give this a go!

10. Last but not least... Be a Good Mum. I have actually really struggled since having my little boy. I have talked about it either which I don't think has helped. I am a sufferer of Post-Partum Depression. Having spoken to a GP mine isn't severe, which means I don't need anti-depressants - I was offered them but I turned them down. Mine also is more like Post-Partum Anxiety which is more of an American thing. Here in Britain PPD and PPA are both catagorised under PPD. I was given a list of websites that could help me and was advised to write a diary, talk to friends and family or even find other mummy friends that suffer or have suffered and overcome PPD to get some advice. After speaking to my partner about how I'm feeling, my goal now is to simply be a good mum. As long as my son is healthy and happy, I am doing my job and doing it well. I'm also going to make a daily goal to have an undisturbed cup of tea. I'll be taking this 'me time' while baby boy is napping! I'll also throw in a blog post or a bit of reading while he is napping too!

I think I'll probably give myself monthly goals to try and break it down a bit and make these seem easier to accomplish.
